These are just a few of our Our Favourite Places.
The places below are our favourite places. All are within a short drive or bus Journey. Dorset is truely one of the most beautiful places in the country, here are just a few of the places within a few miles of the Wilton Guest House.
Lulworth Cove
There are many beautiful things about Lulworth. Its history, its geology, the cove itself, the views from the top of the hill between Lulworth and Durdle. In addition to all these its also very educational. The visitor centre is open all year and describes in detail how the cove was created. Even if geology doesn't rock your boat, go see it anyway because its stunning. FOR SAT NAV BH20 5RH
Durdle Door
Durdle door is a short walk from Lulworth Cove. Its another wonderful example of the incredible geology that we are blessed with here in Dorset. Its twisted strata, chalk coves and beach makes it in my favourite places to visit. FOR SAT NAV BH20 5RH
Portland
Portland is a 140 million year old chunk of limestone. The stone itself is world famous and is used to create some of the most beautiful buildings in the world including St Pauls Cathedral. Take a trip over to Portland, park at the Portland Heights hotel and go and sea the view of Chesil Beach, Portland harbour and the Fleet lagoon. It is truely one of the most beautiful views you will ever see. From there take the short drive down to Church Orme and onto Portland Bill. SAT NAV DT5 2JT
Abbotsbury
You can be forgiven in thinking that this sleepy little village is closed. But in fact its a hive of activity with galleries, cafes and shops. It also has a world renowned swannery, a childrens farm and the south coast walking path runs alongside it. This picture is taken from the path over looking the fleet lagoon and the sea. Its beautiful. SAT NAV DT3 4JG
Burton Bradstock
A short and stunning drive from Weymouth is Burton Bradstock. The walk along the beach towards Lyme Regis under the towering cliffs is something else. There is a nice little cafe called www.hivebeachcafe.co.uk its on the beach front and the food is good. FOR SAT NAV DT6 4RN
Lyme Regis
Lyme is quaint little village with a fantastic history. The towering jurassic cliffs make it a haven for fossil hunters. Parking is a problem in the height of the season so my advice is go out of season to enjoy what lyme had to offer. FOR SAT NAV DT7 3BS
Nothe Forte
I really enjoy walking up to Nothe Forte. The forte itself is interesting but the view up there is stunning. From there you can see Portland, the harbour, Wyke Regis and Chesil Beach. There is great walk along the coast and depending on the time of year a cafe. DT4 8UF FOR SAT NAV
