The Wilton Guest House is a conservation building, and due to the limitations imposed by the Town council we are limited to the work that can be done to adapt rooms and stair wells. However we are comitted in trying to where possible to make the stays of the disabled as comfortable as possible.
The Wilton is approached by a relatively narrow pavement of 40" in width. The outside erea is flat with a gentle incline to the Esplanade. The Esplanade is perfect for those with a wheelchair as it is long, flat and very scenic.
The is one 7" step to get into the Wilton, the front door is 33" in width and the lock is 52" from the floor. The second door is 33" in width. The dining room is on the ground floor and there are no steps to access it. The table tops are 25" from the floor are the chairs and tables are movable. The door to the dining room is 29" in width. The light switches are 54 inches from ground to switch. A large print menu available, cups and Mugs are available. Breakfast is waiter service, milk and juice and condiments are already on your table. Cereals are self service but waiting staff are always at hand to help.
This guest house does not have a 24 hour reception and hearing loops are not available at this time.
We have 1 ground floor room called NOTHE. This has no steps to access it and the door is 29" in width. There is a 32" flat screen wall mounted Tv with some satelite channels it has a remote control. A bedside lamp is in situe. This has no ensuite but does have its own private bathroom which is accessed by 10 stairs then a landing then 2 more stairs. The stairs have a wooden hand rail. The bathroom has a bath and a shower and a small hand shower.
The next room is Durdle, this is accessed by 16 stairs from the ground floor. The door to the room is 27" amd the room to the bathroom is 25" from the bed. This is not a wheelchair friendly room due to the size.
The next room is Lulworth, this is accessed by a door measuring 28" in width. it is a large family room with plenty of room to move around it is accessed by a total of 16 stairs.
The light switches are 52" from the ground. Bed side lamps are in situe and the TV 14" has a remote control
